Laser and Non Laser Tattoo Removal Q & A

NON-LASER TATTOO REMOVAL Q&A

How does Tattoo Vanish® Work?

We apply a local anesthetic before and during the procedure, using the tattoo machine in a similar manner as when the tattoo was received. Once the area has been exposed, we apply the Ink Eraser for a few minutes. The area is then wiped clean and bandaged. You will be furnished with written After Care Instructions to ensure the treatment’s effectiveness and your full recovery.

How does the Deracination Serum Work?

The UNDO removal system contains all natural active ingredients such as bentonite as well as aloe leaf extract and hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate, the deracination serum is designed to “wake up” the dormant ink in the skin and pull it to the surface, while simultaneously hydrating the skin from beneath and improves elasticity in order for it to heal cleaner with minimal scar tissue.

What is in the Treatment Masks?

The UNDO Lifting Clay mask has a unique composition and can act as a magnet that attracts negatively charged toxins as well as any additional ink brought to the surface during the Deracination process. People have been using calcium bentonite clay for centuries as a way to detoxify the body and improve skin tone.  The Healing Microcurrent masks include Tissue X™ technology which is the world’s first TDDS (Transdermal Drug Delivery System) which conveniently delivers the benefits of iontophoresis treatments to the skin, as used by many dermatologists. Using Tissue X™ technology our healing microcurrent masks deliver the active ingredients and macromolecule healing compounds, such as hyaluronic acid, peptides and vitamins into deeper layers of the skin.

How Quick are Results?

There are a variety of tattooing methods used by tattoo artists all over the world. The type of ink used, age, size and number of cover ups will determine how long it takes to see results. Because of this, we offers FREE consultations.

LASER TATTOO REMOVAL Q&A

How does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?

The first laser tattoo removal session happened in 1967, when Dr. Leon Goldman used an ND: YAG laser and a 694 Ruby laser to get rid of a client’s body art. Since then, laser has become mainstream for tattoo removal.
A tattoo is basically ink that is trapped in the deepest layer of the skin. When laser light is applied to the skin, it shatters the ink that it first reaches. The shallowest layers of ink are removed before the deepest layers. It takes multiple sessions to penetrate all the varying depths of ink in a tattoo. A darker deeper tattoo will take more sessions than shaded tattoos with a lower density of ink.

Which is better Q-Switched or Picosecond for Tattoo Removal?

The Q-Switched and Picosecond lasers have become the safest and most effective methods of tattoo removal. With higher success rates, and an ability to accurately remove unwanted ink without damaging surrounding skin.

A Picosecond laser operates at one trillionth of a second, and has a pulse width that is 100 times faster than that of the Q-Switched laser.

The Q-Switched laser uses a technique that is highly intense, yet ultra-short in pulse durations. Q-Switch lasers operate in nanoseconds, which is equal to one billionth of a second.

Both machines are fast, and extremely popular when it comes to laser tattoo removal. Both are considered the ‘Gold Standard’ of tattoo removal by health professionals.

How Many Treatments are Needed?

The number of treatments depends on the client and their tattoo. There are a number of factors that will dictate this, including your health, the depth of the ink, which type of ink was used and the size of the tattoo. Laser tattoo removal on average takes 8-10 sessions. Sessions to do the same tattoo area is 6 weeks. To do a different area it is 2 weeks in between sessions. It’s not unusual to take over a year to completely remove the tattoo.

The Kirby-Desai Scale (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2923953/) is a popular and well-regarded tool for analyzing the number of treatments a tattoo will need for removal. The scale accounts for the following factors that affect the rate of removal:

  • Fitzpatrick skin type
  • Tattoo layering (if the tattoo is a cover-up)
  • Location on the body
  • Ink colors
  • Amount of ink (vividness of tattoo, if it was professionally applied)
  • Pre-existing scarring

The Kirby-Desai scale was published in 2009, and technology has improved since then to remove tattoos, but it continues to be an excellent tool for assessing where a patient stands on the bell curve. There are also other factors, such as patient health, that affect the speed of removal. If a patient is young, physically fit, and has a strong immune system, they will tend to see results faster than an older, obese patient with health problems.
